We are thrilled to announce our new initiative, the "Self-Care Sunday Series"! At Independent Facilitator Training Academy, we understand that Independent Facilitators, Advocates, Parents, and Caregiving for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities is not just a job - it's a life commitment that requires immense strength, patience, and resilience. Therefore, it is essential to make self-care a priority.
Our new series is designed to support and uplift our community of Independent Facilitators, Advocates, and Parents of Regional Center consumers by reminding us all of the importance of self-care, providing practical relaxation techniques, mindfulness exercises, and sharing inspiring quotes to help recharge for the week ahead.
Starting from August 2023, we'll spend every Sunday focusing on a different aspect of self-care to help us maintain a healthy work-life balance and be the best we can be, for ourselves and the ones we care for.
Here are some of the enriching topics we'll be diving into:
- Mindfulness Meditation (August 6): Learn to reduce stress and increase overall well-being through the practice of mindfulness.
-Yoga and Body Movement (August 13): Discover simple yoga postures and movements that can help reduce physical tension and improve your mood.
- Nutrition and Health (August 20): Understand how a balanced diet impacts your mental and physical health.
- The Power of Positive Thinking (August 27): Harness the power of optimism and positive affirmations to influence your daily life positively.
-Inspiring Stories (September 3): Get inspired by the success stories within our disabled community, focusing on resilience, determination, and empowerment.
-Sleep Hygiene (September 10): Uncover the importance of good sleep for your physical health and mental well-being.
- Gratitude Journaling (September 17): Learn to appreciate the positives in your life by cultivating the habit of gratitude journaling.
- Breathing Exercises (September 24): Equip yourself with simple but effective techniques that can reduce stress and anxiety.
And much more! As we progress through the series, we'll revisit each topic, delving deeper into the practices and reflecting on our progress. We'll wrap up the year with a review of our self-care journey and plan for the year ahead.
